As a quality university, STEMMUCO is per se a research based and oriented higher institute of learning. It considers research and publication not only as the “soul” and hallmark of academic excellence, but also an added value, making a critical difference towards future academic fitness and innovation. This is absolutely necessary for true socio-economic, human, cultural, political and technological transformation in Tanzania in particular and in the world in general. Research and publication activities at STEMMUCO are also deemed as the key stimulus for quality teaching (learning), consultancy and rendering of high quality service to humanity, to the environment and to the future of society.

Admittedly, STEMMUCO understands that in the present day globalized and globalizing world, characterized with a high speed innovative culture, knowledge, skill, competitiveness and aptitudes, generation and dissemination of quality education is neither a luxury nor an option. It is a “conditio sine qua non” towards a world class university. That is why; STEMMUCO constantly encourages both individual as well as collaborative research endeavours not only to the academic staff but to students and support staff too. Currently, we have several local and international research publications from STEMMUCO academic staff. Indeed, STEMMUCO upholds the universal principles, theories and methodologies in research and publications.

In brief, STEMMUCO’s vision particularly in research and publication activities is profoundly geared towards deep transformation, change and more so in bridging the “lacuna” (gap) between information and formation, policy and implementation, knowing and doing, theory and practice, research findings and concrete life. Beyond doubt, our mission and vision can eventually be concretized not only through teaching, consultancy and community out service, but more so through generation of quality knowledge and innovative skills which will critically revolutionise academia, technology and human wellbeing as a whole. In this regard therefore, among other short and long term strategies, STEMMUCO envisions to launch a research based quality centre with focus particularly on Professional and Applied Ethics on major business, climate and academic challenges today, that is, STEMMUCO CAPE (Centre For Applied and Professional Ethics).
